Hannover launches Health Innovation Hannover Region (HIHR)

New platform for the healthcare of the future

The Digital Health City Hannover becomes the Health Innovation Hannover Region (HIHR) . More than 25 partners from science, business, healthcare and politics gave the official go-ahead for further development on September 23 in Hanover's Old Town Hall. The aim is to shape the healthcare of tomorrow in a practical way and to make the region's innovative strength visible both nationally and internationally.

From Digital Health City to HIHR

The further development from Digital Health City Hannover to Health Innovation Hannover Region represents a clear step from a purely digital perspective to a comprehensive innovation ecosystem. While the Digital Health City focused on digital solutions, HIHR is opening up to a much broader range of topics: from medical technology and life sciences to new care models and social and organizational innovations. This not only addresses start-ups and technology providers, but also systematically integrates clinics, care facilities, payers and research institutions.

The three core elements

The Health Innovation Hannover Region is based on three core elements: Connect, Develop and Explore.

Connect networks the relevant players - from start-ups and clinics to research and payers - in an open community for exchange and cooperation.

Develop supports innovators and service providers with targeted advice, financing and business model development to bring ideas to fruition quickly.

Explore creates real test and development spaces in which new solutions can be tested in practice, further developed and transferred to healthcare.

Role of hannoverimpuls

The hannoverimpuls team plays a key role in the implementation: as initiator and coordinator, the economic development agency ensures that the three core elements are interlinked and brings together partners from science, business and healthcare in a targeted manner. This makes hannoverimpuls the link between the city, the region and the players in the healthcare ecosystem - with the clear aim of ensuring that ideas do not get stuck in concept papers, but have an impact in practice.

International perspective

With international partners - including from Denmark and Dubai - Hannover is positioning itself as a European hub for healthcare innovation.
